bingo
Bingo! cards are a fun way to build language skills. You can use them for introducing, practising and revising vocabulary. Also, these cards give kids the opportunity to make their own picture dictionary, and they are great to play different word games.
Our Bingo is adapted from the game of bingo, and it is a very simple version of this game.
- Print out your Bingo! cards and counters.
- Give one Bingo! card and four counters to each player.
- Kids choose four pictures (or words), then cover them with their counters.
- The caller calls out words for any of the pictures on the Bingo! card at random.
- Kids uncover each of their chosen pictures that they hear the caller names.
- The first person to uncover all four pictures calls Bingo!
- He or she then becomes the caller and the game can be repeated.
flashcards
Flashcards make learning fun. They are a great tool for presenting, practising and revising new vocabulary. Also, you can use them to play different word games such as memory, matching or guessing games.
MEMORY
In the game of Memory players try to collect pairs of matching cards.
- All of the cards are placed face down on a flat surface.
- A player turns up two cards.
- If they match, they are collected by the player and he or she goes again.
- If they don't match, the cards are flipped over and it's the next player's turn.
- The player with the most matching sets of cards at the end of the game wins.
SNAP!
A fast, fun game, requiring quick reflexes and sharp observation (adapted from British Council).
- Print 2 or 4 sets of the flashcards.
- Shuffle the cards and deal them out to all the players.
- Take it in turns to turn over a card, the player should say what is on the card and then place it in the middle of the table.
- If a player turns up a card which is the same as the previous one, the first player to shout Snap! wins all the cards in the pile.
- Players are out of the game when they have no cards left.
- The winner is the player who has all the cards.
